Fares and Passes

Fare is required from all passengers on all routes, except the Wabash Trolley Line.

Fares
Drivers do not make change. Please have exact fare.

Regular Cash Fare:
$1.00 per trip.
Elderly, Disabled, Medicare Card:
50¢ per trip. Requires E&D Identification or Medicare Card.
Token:
75¢ per trip. Sold in rolls of ten tokens.
Purdue Students, Faculty, Staff:
Fare-Free. Fares have been paid by Purdue University.
Ivy Tech Students & Staff:
Fare-Free. Fares have been paid by Ivy Tech.
Kids in Grades K-6:
Free. Parents should determine if kids should ride alone on CityBus.
Youth in Grades 7-12:
Fare-Free with Annual Student Pass. See below.
ACCESS Certified:
Fare-Free on Bus Routes. $2.00 on ACCESS. Requires precertification.

Monthly Passes and Tokens

If you're a frequent rider, save money by using a monthly bus pass or tokens. Bus passes are fare for unlimited rides during the month the bus pass is valid.

Monthly Bus Pass :
$28.00. Valid for the calendar month shown on the pass.
E&D Monthly Bus Pass :
$14.00. Use requires E&D Identification or Medicare Card.
Token:
75¢ per trip. Sold in rolls of ten tokens.

Tokens and passes are available for sale at the following locations:

  • Downtown Transfer Center at Riehle Plaza
  • CityBus Office at 1250 Canal Rd., Lafayette
  • Chase Bank (all locations in Lafayette-West Lafayette)
  • Lafayette Bank & Trust (all locations in Lafayette-West Lafayette)

E&D Fare

CityBus provides discounted fare for all citizens who are elderly or disabled. To participate in the discount fare program a special E&D Photo Identification or Medicare Card must be presented to the driver each time an individual boards a bus. To obtain the E&D Photo Identification, please complete the Application Form for Discount Fare (PDF Format).

Annual Student Pass

Youth in Grades 7-12 ride fare-free with a $1.00 Annual Student Pass, which is valid for the current school year and expires September 15th.

Passes are available to youth in grades 7 to 12, and to adult learners age 21 or under who are enrolled in a primary or secondary education program. A completed “Annual Student Pass Enrollment Form (PDF)” must be completed by the student or a parent before the pass can be issued, and only one pass will be issued per student. Proof of enrollment in school is required to obtain and use the Annual Student Pass. (Proof of enrollment can be a current report card or school progress report, or letter from the school or adult learning program. Parents of youth schooling at home can obtain a pass for their child.)

The Annual Student Pass is available only at the CityBus office at 1250 Canal Rd., in Lafayette, Monday to Friday, 8AM to 4PM. CityBus collaborates with local school corporations to distribute the pass in schools at the beginning of the school year.

Riding fare-free is a privilege only for those youth who follow the System Rules. CityBus reserves the right to rescind this privilege for any youth rider who breaks these rules.

 

NOTES:

Purdue Students, Employees and Ivy Tech Students, Employees: Show your Purdue or Ivy photo identification
upon boarding for the free ride. These rides are funded by Purdue and Ivy Tech.

Children ages 5 and under ride free but must be accompanied by an adult. Children ages 6 through Grade 6 ride free.

Youth grades 7-12 must swipe an Annual Student Pass in the fare box to ride free. Regular fare ($1.00 per trip)
will be required from youth who do not have the pass. The pass is available at the CityBus office at 1250 Canal Rd.
Proof of school enrollment is required to obtain the pass. The annual pass is valid until September 15th. A new
pass is required for each school year.

ACCESS: CityBus certifies passengers for ACCESS according to the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA)
guidelines. Present the "Certificate of Eligibility for ADA Paratransit Services" to the driver for free ride on
regular route bus. Fare on ACCESS is $2.00 per trip.

E&D Passes and Fares: E&D stands for "elderly & disabled." Must be 65 or older, or have a qualifying disability.
Disability forms are available at CityBus's office at 1250 Canal Rd. or here in PDF Format. E&D identification cards from CityBus allow
persons with a disability to purchase discounted passes and pay reduced cash fares. The identification card
can be purchased at CityBus's office at 1250 Canal Rd. for $2.00
